Chicago Style City
The Chicago Style City was developed as a new concept for Navy Pier, working to solve some of the problems regarding the current state of urban life. Most of the design was based on the concept of a "linear city," an idea made famous by Le Corbusier and his project for Algiers. By creating a kind of city within a small area, automobile traffic would be eliminated and the main stretch of walkway will be shared by bicycles and foot traffic. The project works as a potential testing ground for a new urban condition where automobile traffic can start to be eliminated along with the crippling traffic congestion that currently plagues Chicago as well as many other large, high density metropolitan areas.
